Keeping rocky shore healthy

One of the learnings we are doing for topic is thinking about how to keep our rocky shore clean and healthy so Room 21 designed posters last week.

We discussed slogans, big and bright pictures which can catch people's eyes easily, and pictures that relate to the slogan we chose.

When we go to rocky shore, we need to remember to leave the creatures in the sea instead of taking them home, pick up the rubbish, and take the rubbish back home if we had picnic.

This week we finished our posters because we had to paint some parts of our posters with water colours.

Well done Blake for listening to Miss Joo how bright colours are important in posters!

Well done Laura for the bright slogans! I could clearly see what your poster is about!

I really like your happy sea creatures in your poster Geena and well done for painting your background carefully!

Book about my feelings

This week Room 21 authors have published books called "My feelings".
We discussed our happy feelings and sad feelings last week and wrote some moments when we feel happy or sad.

Liam has done a beautiful work on decorating his front cover page for the book!
Ka pai Liam!
Blake has also done an amazing work decorating his book covers!
Good job Blake!

Environment in Rocky shore

Our topic is environment in rocky shore.
We talked about what environment around us is and environment in rocky shore is.
We also looked at sea creatures who live in rocky shore such as crabs, seaweeds, starfish and so on.
Room 21 children are so excited to learn more about rocky shore!

If you have time, visiting rocky shore would be a good idea too!

Coco the ratty tatty cat!

In week 7, Room 21 read a big book called "Ratty tatty cat"
We drew Coco the ratty tatty cat and labelled what he looks like using adjectives!
Then we dyed him black and decorated the background using pastels and crayons.
Blake did amazing job decorating the background so he shared his picture to the whole class.
We talked about how important we need to put our best effort when working!

Some of us didn't get to do the background as we didn't have enough time..

Polar bear story

On the 27th of Feb, it was international polar bear day.
Miss Joo brought a picture of polar bears and we discussed and shared what we think polar bears were doing in the picture.
On Tuesday we wrote a story using the picture thinking about what, why, when, where, who, how questions.
On Wednesday, we edited our work by either adding some interesting words or adding sounds in our stories.
On Thursday, we published our first story of the year!
They are displayed on our writing wall at the back of the classroom.

My shadow

On Friday, Room 21 traced shadows with chalk with help from Room 1 buddies in the morning because our poem of the week was called "My shadows".

We then went out again in the afternoon to see if our shadows have moved or look different.
They moved to the side of where it was!
We had so much fun drawing our shadows!
